Don’t miss the essentials! These are the most crucial and the most basic, age-old, biblical principles for the education of a child. Faith and character are preeminent. The principle of individuality is the most liberating principle. Relationships lie at the heart of it. Life integration turns knowledge into an extremely useful and powerful tool for success. But, how many of these elements are missed by conventional systems of learning, and many homeschools as well? These are the basics, coming from Kevin Swanson’s 53 years of experience in the movement, and his book, “Upgrade, the Ten Secrets to the Best Education for Your Child.”

Not only did Michele homeschool 3 biological children, each of whom earned an associate's degree from Casper College, but she also homeschooled 2 foster sisters. Later, she and her husband adopted 2 girls from China. Furthermore, the children were active in a variety of extracurricular activities at Kelly Walsh. Michele shares that the Word of God was her guide, and God used the adventures in homeschooling to do His sanctifying work in her; in fact, it was one of the most precious gifts in her life.

Typically, when we are reading a book of fiction, we focus on the plot, character, and theme of the story. What do you mean by “reading between the lines?” Good question. It is trying to figure out and understand what the author didn’t say by what he did say. It is searching for clues to understand the author’s basic beliefs regarding the most significant questions in life, such as: What is God like? How did the world begin? What is the basic nature of man? Furthermore, what is Truth? This is reading at the highest and most important level. Listen in as David and Shirley explore what it means to be reading between the lines.
In this presentation we will look at radiometric dating. Is it really accurate? Are there other scientific dating methods that give us a much younger age for the earth? I will reveal the best and most accurate method to use for dating purposes. Does the fossil record provide evidence for evolution or creation? We will study some of the transitional forms (missing links) that are used to support evolution. Information about mutations (genetic mistakes), the mechanism used to generate new genetic information causing one creature to evolve into another creature will be presented. Are they truly helpful, or are they harmful?
Shauna began homeschooling during the preschool years on a modest income; God always provided. She understands the struggles of life. One child was dyslexic and another was diagnosed with epilepsy. During her 19 years, they used Abeka, Classical Conversations and other resources as needed. They loved reading! Her oldest 4 participated in dual enrollment classes, while her youngest began in 8th grade at a Christian school when Shauna returned to college to study nursing. Her youngest will graduate this spring!

As the father of four daughters (ages 17-24), Kevin Swanson speaks of the unique challenge for moms and dads raising daughters. How to communicate, how to love, how to discipline, and how to pray for our daughters. He will address what God wants for our daughters, as revealed in His Word
Great art has endured over time due to the artists placing Biblical truth onto their canvas. Through the study of art, we can see God's majesty and the beauty of His creation. In a similar way to great literature, art masterworks can take us on a journey to significant historical places and times where they come to life and leave lasting impressions upon our memories. However, the visual nature of art inspires and teaches us in ways that words alone cannot. We pray that studying of artworks and Scripture will draw us closer to God and refresh our souls
Ladies, we kindly request this workshop be reserved for the men only
Especially for husbands and fathers, this session will encourage and equip men to lead their families in daily Scripture reading, hymn singing, and prayer. Whether you grew up with a “family altar” or have never heard of it and are afraid to try, Dr. MacPherson will provide biblical examples, practical advice, and plenty of encouragement. Having recently survived (and thrived!) during “the year of the four teenagers,” he will explain how children of all ages can grow closer to Christ through home devotions centered on God’s Word. Q&A topics may also include: preparing sons and daughters for marriage, honoring one’s elders, and finding joy in the Bible’s definition of marriage.

What are the indispensable, irreducible, “don’t try this without it” principles for your homeschool and for your family? Kevin Swanson gives three footers that need to be there, under the foundations of your home today.
