Resilient faith grows as we learn to see God’s steady character in both His Word and His created world. Jesus often taught outdoors—in olive groves, beside the sea, and in the wilderness—and He used materials from nature (sparrows, wildflowers, seeds, soil, and storms) to make truth stick. We can teach using the same method, returning nature study to its proper place as theology, the study of God. Discover how you can use nature study and time outdoors as a family to nurture a wonder-filled and resilient faith.

What are the proper sphere jurisdictions for family, church, and state? Should the state ban spanking or home schooling? Should the church dictate the education of our children? What about Sunday Schools and Youth Groups? When the sphere jurisdictions go haywire, chaos usually ensues. A basic understanding of family, church, and state is essential for the Christian family.
A Biblical Worldview Education is built around the idea of not just teaching subjects, but showing the interconnection among the subjects and then shaping how children think — how they see the world — through the Biblical worldview. Everything in the curriculum is interconnected to Scripture. It’s not an add-on, but the foundation: students learn to see all subjects (history, literature, science, arts) through the lens of the Biblical worldview. Rather than rote memorization, a Biblical Worldview Education uses a three-stage learning cycle: observe, interpretation, then correlation/application. This encourages critical thinking and helps students understand why they believe what they believe.
Home education has its challenges, especially when the teacher is going through a challenging time. Like all vocations, the home educating parent does his or her duty not because it is easy, but because the task has been given to do. When grief, illness, tragedy and more enter a family, how can homeschooling continue? What aspects are vitally important? What subjects can be simplified or skipped for a season? Where do we find the strength to continue when our own strength is failing? Leave this session encouraged that your Savior loves you, forgives you, and gives you His strength for the task ahead.
Brenna's homeschool years included major life challenges, including her second born son’s car accident at age 18 that took him back to the basics of relearning to walk, talk, write, etc. Yet after 25 years, all 5 of her children have graduated from homeschool, received college scholarships, including the Hathaway, and have diverse careers ranging from a PhD in chemical engineering to medical work to trades. Brenna held firm to Duteronomy 6:7 while seeking to preserve curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and develop a Christian worldview in her children.
