Parenting is a high calling to which homeschooling adds another layer of responsibility, joy, challenge & triumph. We all wrestle with the tension between living out the Biblical principle of Sabbath Rest vs. training in Resilience for new and difficult times. Deep in every soul is the desire for rest--in the peace that only comes from God himself. Yet as parents we want to do the good work to train our children for the battles we know will come. We must equip ourselves as well as teach our children how to daily put their armor on. During this year’s convention, each speaker will give you practical tools & inspiration to answer the question:

How can I teach from a place of rest while also preparing my children for spiritual battle?

From the Outgoing President

Hello Wyoming Homeschool Families!!

So happy to see so many familiar faces and become acquainted with new ones this year! Just a brief note to say goodbye as I have stepped down from the role of President this year. I was blessed to be able to serve for four years in this role and it has been marked with some memorable moments:

We launched Capitol Day in 2024- 2025, hosting two legislative days with our brand new legislative team led by Erin Waszkiewicz. The 2024 legislative Homeschool Wyoming team spoke with legislators to defend homeschool freedom in the arena of public vs private funding. We stood against the ESA bill. I was blessed to speak on behalf of HSWYO during the legislative session in 2025. That session, with the passage of the Homeschool Freedom Act, was a historic moment in national homeschool history as Wyoming became the first state to rollback legislation and join 11 other states as the most free states to homeschool! It was such a blessing to be a part of what the Lord did that year with and through a great team of ladies. We continued the tradition in Fall of 2025 with Monique McInnis taking the helm, hosting another Capitol Day as well as a memorable Homeschool Prayer Day at the Capitol.

With the addition of new board members we took a bold step to move the convention to the center of the state in Casper. I felt it would be a good move to try to include people located in smaller communities across the state. This is our second year and our convention coordinators Seth and Ashley Tubbs are taking the convention to a whole new level with a move to a convention center!!

The Lord stirred the hearts of many families over the past four years to step up and join to help connect homeschool families, equip parents and protect our precious freedoms. It has been such a blessing to serve alongside Tammy Drost, Rachel Brasington for the first 3 years and Stacy Berger, Seth and Ashley Tubbs for the past 2 years and Andrew Zawislanski and Stephen Fairley this year. I have learned so much from you all and am so thankful for each of you. Grace and peace!

From the Interim President

Hello fellow homeschoolers,

I'm Seth, husband to Ashley and father to 4 children ranging in age from 10 to 1. It seems I have a pretty common homeschool story: it was my wife's idea that I went along with. When she brought up attending convention before we were officially homeschooling any of our children, I went because she wanted to go. What I encountered there changed my whole outlook and our family.

Todd Wilson (aka The Family Man) was the keynote speaker at my first convention. He challenged dads to be more involved in homeschooling, even without being the primary instructor. Ashley and I both enjoyed the convention enough that we planned to return the next year where we heard Andrew Pudewa. He challenged dads to read out loud to their kids; I've been reading to my kids at bedtime almost every night since. The next year Israel Wayne challenged dads to step up to their biblical role as the leader of their homes. I received this challenge and took a closer look at how I was leading my family to find where I had room to grow.

Each year, conference has helped me better define my role in homeschooling our children. My wife is the one primarily teaching the lessons, but it is so important that I support her. Conference has helped me understand practical ways to do that every day. It has also helped me to realize what an important role I play in the lives of my children as their father. It was out of these impactful experiences that I chose to become involved in Homeschool Wyo.

My involvement with HSWY started when Brenna approached me asking if I would serve as treasurer. As I filled this role for over a year, my desire to see this organization reach more homeschooling families and fathers like me increased. When Brenna announced that she would be stepping down from president, I was asked to fill the role on an interim basis.

While I do not know what my specific role with HSWY will be going forward, I am pleased to be part of an organization that seeks to protect homeschool freedom in Wyoming, educate families on their rights to homeschool, and inspire more men to take the charge to lead in the daily discipleship of their children.
